75 minutes, with a pause
Continuing to gain courage by using her voice and movement language, Chelsea Factory Resident Artist Hope Boykin will present a program inspired by her self-published collection MOMENTS. A labor of love from 2016, which served as the beginning of a commitment to use words with movement to meaningfully represent her ideas, thoughts, feelings, and emotions, Moments By Hope will reflect on the strength of her heart and how it sustains her—the root of her work.
Hope, with her mission to create and share an environment of acceptance, will bring new levels of awareness, while exploring, developing, and teaching a sound and healthy approach to movement and expression. Lifting and leading young artists to a secure foundation, which promotes growth, will evolve a confidence and an assurance which will be unmatched in artists’ minds and bodies. This is her why. There are no limits.
About Hope Boykin:
Two time "Bessie Award" winner, Hope Boykin was an original member of Complexions, danced with Philadanco, and most recently completed her 20th and final year with the Ailey American Dance Theater. Hope serves as Artistic Advisor for Dance Education for the Kennedy Center, Artist-in-Residence at USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, and continues as a writer, blending her words and cadence as the foundation of her developing movement-language. In fall of 2021, Hope premiered her choreography in "An Evening of Hope at 92nd Street Y," to much acclaim. She firmly believes there are no limits.
